Joe Albano, M.D.
Salt Lake Regional Primary Care Joe Albano, M.D., received his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, N.Y. Following medical school, he completed a general surgery internship at Wright-Patterson AFB/Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, as well as a family practice residency at the University of Utah & a sports medicine fellowship at Michigan State University. Dr. Albano’s particular interest is in the non-surgical treatment of some common tendon, cartilage & nerve problems, such as lateral epicondylosis, plantar fasciosis, patellar tendinosis, achilles tendinosis, rotator cuff tears, arthritis, & carpal & cubital tunnel syndromes. To assist in the diagnosis of tendon, cartilage & nerve issues, Dr. Albano often uses musculoskeletal ultrasound. For treatment, Dr. Albano employs various regenerative medicine applications, including platelet rich plasma, which has been successful for many patients over the past few years. Dr. Albano has taught at national courses on the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnostic & needle-guided purposes, & also for the use of platelet rich plasma.
Dr. Albano likes to participate in numerous athletic pursuits including ultra-marathons, hockey, skiing, cycling & chasing his two boys. He really enjoys helping athletes get back to the activities they enjoy.

He completed a two-year fellowship in primary care sports medicine, & his master degree in in exercise physiology & sports science at the University of British Columbia. He has served as a team physician for professional basketball, soccer & hockey teams as well as Olympic & world championship teams during his career.
Dr. Macintyre has a special interest in overuse/overtraining injuries & tendon disorders of the upper & lower extremities, including throwing, dance & running injuries. He offers extra corporeal shock wave therapy, the latest in treatment of tendon disorders.

Matich, M.D., specializes in preventing, diagnosing & treating sport- & exercise-related injuries as well as providing general orthopedic care. Dr. Matich completed her sports medicine fellowship at the University of Utah, & has worked as a team physician for East High School football & Utah Grizzlies hockey teams. She has also provided medical care for numerous athletic events, including the Salt Lake City Marathon, the Short Track Speed Skating World Cup & the Nike All-American Women’s Basketball camp.
